Chip Conveyor Deconstruction

Some years ago, Patton Engineering Limited fabricated a large, mobile conveyor for loading export wood chip to the cargo holds of vessels at the Port of Napier.

With the downturn in export of chip over the past few years, Pan Pac negotiated early termination of their lease of the Port land, and it was therefore decided to deconstruct the portable chip conveyor for transportation to storage off-site.

The work involved complex lifts with multiple cranes and work at heights in excess of 30 meters.

The conveyor was ‘broken down’ to manageable sections which still weighted over 10 tonnes and were up to 20 meters long, requiring specialised transport equipment.

Project was completed well within time frame allocated.
