Mohaka Bridge
Seismic Strengthening

Patton Engineering Limited were engaged by Downers Construction to undertake extensive structural seismic strengthening to the Mohaka Gorge Road Bridge.

Prior to commencement of seismic strengthening, high levels of chromates were found within the existing painting system which resulted in the need for full encapsulation of work areas, full abrasive blasting and preparation prior to remedial structural works being undertaken.

All staff were routinely monitored for any indication of lead poisoning, and staff health and safety along with environmental impact, were paramount consideration throughout the 7 month duration of the project.

Extensive weld testing and monitoring were undertaken by a third-party independent inspector.
